Islamabad: Pakistan and Hungary have committed to bolstering their parliamentary relationships through the establishment of parliamentary groups and regular exchanges to foster closer diplomatic and economic ties. The first meeting of the Pak-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group, which convened at the National Assembly in Islamabad, marked a significant step towards this goal.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was chaired by Raja Osama Sarwar, the Convener of the Group and a Member of the National Assembly. The Hungarian Ambassador to Pakistan, Bela Fazekas, also attended the event, underscoring the importance of this initiative to both nations.
During the meeting, Sarwar expressed appreciation for Hungary’s decision to double the number of scholarships available to Pakistani students, increasing the total from 200 to 400. This gesture was highlighted as part of Hungary’s broader intent to enhance its economic and political relationship with Pakistan.
Ambassador Fazekas reiterated Hungary’s commitment to strengthening these ties. The discussions at the meeting covered various sectors of mutual interest, aiming to explore new avenues of collaboration while reinforcing existing connections.
Both parties emphasized the crucial role of Parliamentary Friendship Groups in promoting parliamentary diplomacy and enhancing people-to-people contacts, which are fundamental to the sustained development of bilateral relations between the two countries.
