Riyadh: Pakistan and France have reached an understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation in several key sectors, including agriculture, livestock, information technology, skills development, and clean drinking water. The agreement was made during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the One Water Summit in Riyadh.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the two leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining close engagement on various regional and global issues of mutual interest. They expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of the Pakistan-France relationship, discussing a wide range of topics from political and economic ties to trade, investment, and multilateral cooperation, including their work at the United Nations.
Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the need to strengthen economic and trade ties between the two nations, encouraging France to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in climate adaptation and renewable energy sectors. He commended France for its leadership role in addressing climate change and development challenges and acknowledged President Macron’s support for Pakistan, especially following the devastating floods in 2022.
The Prime Minister also extended his congratulations to President Macron for the successful co-hosting of the One Water Summit, underscoring the collaborative spirit between the two countries.
