ISLAMABAD: The 5th round of the Pakistan-European Union Dialogue on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament took place in Islamabad, where representatives from both sides engaged in a detailed exchange on peace, security, and strategic stability.
Discussions were centered on disarmament and non-proliferation, with an emphasis on the United Nations General Assembly’s First Committee agenda, the Conference on Disarmament, and several International Disarmament Conventions, such as the Biological and Chemical Weapons Conventions.
The dialogue further reviewed recent export control trends and evaluated the impact of emerging technologies on global security.
This dialogue is a key component of the ongoing broader engagement between the European Union and Pakistan. Both parties agreed to convene the sixth round of talks in Brussels next year.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Ambassador Tahir Andrabi, Additional Foreign Secretary for Arms Control, Disarmament, and International Security. Ambassador Stephan Klement, EU Special Envoy for Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, headed the European Union delegation.
