Islamabad: In a significant move to bolster economic and educational cooperation, Pakistan and Ethiopia have agreed to enhance their bilateral relationship, focusing on trade and financial collaborations, and exploring educational opportunities.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreement was reached during a meeting in Islamabad today between Pakistan’s Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, and the Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to Pakistan, Jemal Beker Abdula. The Finance Minister welcomed the Ambassador and shared insights into the economic reforms currently being implemented in Pakistan, aimed at achieving economic stability and sustainability.
The Minister outlined several positive developments under Pakistan’s economic reforms, including improvements in foreign exchange reserves, reforms in state-owned enterprises, and advancements in the power sector, which have been recognized by international rating agencies and reflected in recent Fitch reports.
Ambassador Abdula commended Pakistan’s economic stability and discussed Ethiopia’s similar efforts in economic reform, inspired by Pakistan’s strategies, especially in stabilizing its currency and enhancing economic resilience. He also proposed educational cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing student exchange and scholarship programs to provide Ethiopian students with opportunities to study in Pakistan, thereby strengthening educational and cultural ties.
The Minister expressed support for deepening bilateral relations and welcomed the proposed collaborations, marking a commitment to foster mutual prosperity and closer ties between the two nations.
