Rawalpindi: The 14th session of the Pakistan-Egypt Military Cooperation Committee (MCC) convened this week at the Ministry of Defence, marking a significant step forward in bilateral defence relations between the two nations. The meeting, which ran from September 1-6, 2024, was led by Major General Amer Ashfaq Kayani for Pakistan and his Egyptian counterpart, Major General Abdel Rehman Mahmoud Wahdan.
According to Ministry of Defence announcement issued on 04 September 2024, the discussions covered a wide array of topics including bilateral defence cooperation, security, counterterrorism efforts, and the broader regional environment. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of their cooperative efforts and discussed expanding their relationship through training, exchange visits, and joint defence production.
The atmosphere of the talks was reported as cordial, with a mutual commitment to deepening defence and security relations. It was also agreed that the 15th round of the MCC meetings would be hosted by Egypt, underscoring the ongoing commitment to strengthening ties between the two countries.
