Islamabad, PM’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, met with Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Jakob Linulf, to discuss and promote climate diplomacy as a means to tackle pressing global climate issues.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting focused on addressing challenges such as global warming, the melting of glaciers, urban deforestation, heatwaves, the endangerment of rare species, and the management of carbon credits. Both parties agreed on the importance of closer collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the development of joint activities to combat climate change effectively. Romina Khurshid Alam emphasized the need for equitable distribution of climate crisis funds to developing countries and highlighted the urgency of addressing these issues to protect future generations. She also stressed the need for region-specific solutions to climate problems, noting the varying challenges of droughts and floods across different regions.
The Danish ambassador commended the proactive efforts and vision of the PM’s coordinator, particularly in the wake of her new role. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s previous cooperation during the 2022 floods and reiterated Denmark’s commitment to deepening climate cooperation. Romina Khurshid Alam expressed gratitude for his visit and extended an invitation to her Danish counterpart to formalize their cooperative efforts on climate change initiatives.
