Pakistan and China Strengthen Ties in IT, Agriculture, and HR Development


Islamabad, Pakistan and China have agreed to enhance cooperation in sectors including economy, information technology, agriculture, and human resource development, reaffirming their commitment to mutual progress and strong bilateral relations.



According to Press Information Department, this commitment was emphasized during a meeting between the Vice Foreign Minister of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Sun Weidong, and his delegation with President Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jiang Zaidong, also participated in the discussions. President Alvi recognized China as a steadfast ally, particularly highlighting the impact of CPEC projects on Pakistan’s economic growth and energy sector. He expressed Pakistan’s dedication to the further development of CPEC, noting its significance in Pakistan’s industrial development.



The President also acknowledged China’s role in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy and expressed a desire to emulate Chinese achievements in IT, education, health, agriculture, and poverty alleviation for Pakistan’s socio-economic development. He noted the alignment of Pakistan and China on various regional and international issues and reiterated Pakistan’s support for China on core matters such as the “One China” Policy and issues related to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea. The President thanked China for its support on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.



Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong remarked on the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and China, expressing confidence in the future strengthening of these ties. He recognized the fruitful outcomes of CPEC and the potential for expanded cooperation in various fields. The Vice Foreign Minister also thanked President Alvi for his solidarity visit to China during the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.
