Pakistan and China Strengthen Ties, Eye New Opportunities Under CPEC

Lahore, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with high-ranking Chinese officials in Shenzhen, China, today to discuss further strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and China, particularly focusing on new opportunities under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting involved discussions with Mr. Meng Fanli, Party Secretary of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Deputy Party Secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Committee. The discussions highlighted the dynamic economic growth of Guangdong Province and recognized Shenzhen’s pivotal role as a trade gateway, enhancing business linkages between the two nations.

During the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, emphasizing the need to explore further cooperative ventures, especially within the framework of CPEC. Key areas identified for potential growth included science and technology, innovation, and broader economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Sharif and Secretary Meng also acknowledged the significance of people-to-people contacts and cultural exchanges in fostering deeper bilateral relations. They agreed that the upcoming Pakistan-China Business Conference, set to occur tomorrow, would serve as an essential platform for advancing these goals, potentially setting the stage for significant future collaborations.
