KUNMING: Pakistan and China reaffirmed the vitality of their “All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” during a meeting at the 6th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum, officials announced today. Ambassador Imran Ahmed Siddiqui, Additional Secretary (Asia-Pacific) for Pakistan, met with Mr. Sun Weidong, Vice Foreign Minister of China, to discuss regional and global developments.
During the discussions, both parties stressed the importance of strategic communication and coordination to address emerging challenges and seize opportunities for regional stability and prosperity. The commitment to the high-quality development of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a key focus, with both sides identifying agriculture technology, mining, industrial parks, offshore oil, and gas exploration, as well as environmental protection and connectivity, as priority cooperation areas.
The officials agreed to expedite the implementation of projects in these sectors, emphasizing socio-economic development and shared prosperity, including third-party participation in CPEC projects. The meeting also underscored the need to maintain momentum in high-level exchanges, such as the upcoming 6th Round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue at the Foreign Ministers’ level.
Both countries reiterated their commitment to multilateralism and agreed to coordinate policies at international forums, particularly at the United Nations. They expressed their resolve to uphold the UN Charter’s purposes and principles and to promote an open, inclusive, and rules-based international order.
