ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan-China Friendship Group convened at Parliament House under the leadership of Senator Sherry Rehman, reaffirming the enduring alliance between the two nations. The meeting, which marked the group’s first session, underscored the historic and strategic relationship between Pakistan and China.
The gathering brought together prominent Pakistani parliamentarians and a high-level Chinese delegation led by Ambassador Jiang Zaidong. Senator Rehman highlighted the significance of the Friendship Group as a platform for enhancing bilateral ties, praising China’s consistent support in various national sectors.
Senator Rehman expressed gratitude for China’s transformative investments through the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emphasizing its impact on Pakistan’s economic landscape. She called for further collaboration in agriculture, trade, and people-to-people exchanges, recognizing China as Pakistan’s largest trading partner.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reaffirmed China’s commitment to Pakistan, emphasizing joint efforts in combating climate change and fostering economic growth. He announced initiatives in agriculture and education, including the establishment of hospitals and development zones in Balochistan, aimed at boosting local employment and resource management.
