Beijing: At the Pakistan Investment Conference, part of the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS), Federal Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan emphasized the untapped potential in Pakistan-China economic relations and invited further Chinese investment into Pakistan.
According to Press Information Department, the conference was organized by Pakistan’s Embassy in Beijing along with China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Beijing Municipal Government. Minister Khan highlighted the strategic “iron brothers” relationship between the two nations, pointing out the successes of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement but noting significant room for growth. The conference sought to enhance business-to-business exchanges and bolster investment, particularly focusing on the second phase of CPEC.
The event showcased various Pakistani industries, from agriculture to ICT, with key Pakistani and Chinese business leaders in attendance. Important agreements were signed, including a $382 million investment by COFCO Technology in Pakistan’s International Innovative Park and a memorandum for digital transformation in Pakistan’s textile industry.
The conference, which runs until September 16, features an “Invest in Pakistan” Pavilion designed to facilitate direct discussions between Chinese and Pakistani businesses.
