Islamabad: In a pivotal meeting between Planning Minister Prof. Ahsan Iqbal and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Jiang Zaidong, both nations reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), focusing on key projects such as Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and major infrastructure initiatives.
According to Press Information Department, the discussion emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to timely project implementation and enhancing economic cooperation. This meeting sets the stage for Minister Iqbal’s upcoming visit to China, where he will participate in a high-level forum organized by the China International Development Cooperation Agency. The agenda includes advancing previously agreed projects, such as agricultural scholarships, IT training programs, the ML-1 railway project, and the Karakoram Highway Phase 2.
Minister Iqbal reassured the Chinese Ambassador of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of Chinese nationals and strengthen counter-terrorism measures. Both sides highlighted the importance of CPEC in bolstering the strategic partnership between the two countries, promising to maintain momentum in project implementation.
