Karachi, In a significant move towards enhancing bilateral trade and prosperity, Pakistan and China have committed to a joint effort aiming to elevate their trade relationships. This pledge was highlighted during a recent meeting in Islamabad between Yang Guangyuan, the Economic Counsellor of China to Pakistan, and Dr. Gohar Ejaz, Pakistan’s Commerce and Industries Minister.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting was a pivotal moment in the two countries’ economic collaboration. Guangyuan presented an ambitious five-year vision focused on boosting trade between Pakistan and China. A notable element of this vision is the setting of a target for Pakistan’s exports to China, amounting to 25 billion dollars. This goal signifies a substantial leap in trade expectations between the two nations, underlining the commitment to deepen their economic ties.
Further discussions in the meeting revealed China’s interest in leveraging Pakistan’s export processing zones and its cost-effective labor force. This strategy is aimed at accessing markets in Africa and Central Asia, indicating a broader scope of collaboration that goes beyond bilateral trade. The utilization of Pakistan’s resources and strategic position by China underscores a mutual recognition of the potential for economic growth and regional market expansion.
