Pakistan and China Seek to Intensify Bilateral Ties

Islamabad, Amidst the Third Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Kakar and Chinese Premier Li Qiang convened to reinforce and deepen their countries’ collaboration across political, economic, cultural, educational, and scientific domains.

The meeting, attended by respective Ministers and senior officials, saw the two leaders reiterate the unwavering bond between their nations, emphasizing increased high-level dialogue and engagement. Prime Minister Kakar congratulated China on the successful execution of the Forum and acknowledged the global importance of the Belt and Road Initiative in terms of connectivity and shared prosperity.

Bilateral cooperation regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and potential economic engagements took center stage. Kakar emphasized CPEC’s significance to Pakistan’s economy, highlighting its expansion into numerous development sectors like IT, agriculture, mining, and industrial development. He expressed optimism that Chinese investments in Specialized Economic Zones would enrich Pakistan’s industrial foundation and diversify its export offerings. Chinese Premier Li Qiang, noting the steady ascent of bilateral collaborations, emphasized the encouraging progress of CPEC projects. He expressed hopes that unified leadership perspectives would further invigorate trade and economic ties between the two countries.

A subsequent signing ceremony observed the finalization of multiple Memorandums of Understanding and agreements, covering a broad spectrum of areas such as commerce, transportation, media exchanges, climate change, vaccine development, and more.
