Pakistan and China Reinforce Economic and Energy Sector Cooperation


Islamabad: Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, convened a meeting with the Chinese embassy delegation, led by Charge D’affaires Mr. Shi Yuanqiang, to discuss advancements in economic and energy cooperation between Pakistan and China.



According to Press Information Department, the meeting, also attended by key Pakistani officials including the Minister for Power and the Minister of State for Finance & Revenue, highlighted positive trends in Pakistan’s economy such as increased foreign exchange reserves and enhanced tax collection. The discussions emphasized significant reforms in the energy sector and state-owned enterprises, with a focus on fostering export-led growth and attracting more foreign direct investment. The Chargé d’affaires of China expressed ongoing support for Pakistan’s sustainable economic development and detailed coordination efforts between the two nations following recent high-level exchanges.



The meeting also served as a platform to reaffirm the strong bilateral relationship, with both sides recalling recent visits and dialogues that have helped shape the current trajectory towards enhanced economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector, where China remains a key investor.
