Pakistan and China Reaffirm Strategic Ties Amid Regional Tensions


Beijing: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, held talks with Liu Jianchao, the Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China, to discuss pressing regional matters and the enduring partnership between their nations.



The discussions focused on the situation in the region following the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. Both parties emphasized the importance of adhering to the principles of the UN Charter and international law to ensure peace and stability.



Senator Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining a peaceful neighborhood while also affirming its right to defend its territory. He appreciated China’s consistent support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.



A significant point of discussion was India’s recent decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. The Foreign Minister stressed the need for international attention on this issue and reiterated the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions for lasting peace in South Asia.



The Deputy Prime Minister acknowledged the role of the International Department of the Communist Party of China in fostering dialogue between the CPC and Pakistan’s political parties.



As Pakistan and China approach the 74th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, both sides highlighted the unique bond between the two countries and expressed their commitment to passing this legacy on to future generations.
