BEIJING: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering their All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, emphasizing the importance of peace and stability in the region. The consensus emerged from a meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ishaq Dar, and China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Wang Yi, held in Beijing.
According to Radio Pakistan, the discussions took place in a cordial atmosphere, encompassing a range of dialogues from restricted talks to broader delegation-level discussions. The meeting covered the complete spectrum of bilateral relations and regional developments in West Asia, focusing on advancing high-quality development and deepening economic and strategic ties. Particular attention was given to the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and enhancing high-level exchanges and cooperation across various domains.
In light of the evolving situation in West Asia, both nations reiterated their dedication to peace, stability, and dialogue. They issued a Five-Point Initiative aimed at fostering regional peace and stability, with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in this regard. The two sides also committed to maintaining close coordination in multilateral forums and agreed to keep regular and close contact.
