Pakistan and China Pledge to Deepen Bilateral Ties and Support Each Other’s Core Interests

Islamabad: Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepen their longstanding friendship and cooperation, expressing satisfaction with the current momentum of their bilateral relations. During an official visit by the Chinese Premier to Pakistan, both nations agreed to further strengthen their ties, emphasizing the strategic significance of their relationship amid global changes.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the joint statement was issued following discussions between Chinese Premier Li Qiang and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting, which took place from the 14th to the 15th of this month, focused on a variety of strategic issues, including the upgrading of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The statement highlighted the shared perspective of both countries on international matters, notably their grave concerns regarding the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the worsening humanitarian situation there. Pakistan and China reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.

Moreover, the joint statement addressed regional peace and stability, with both sides opposing any unilateral actions that could disrupt regional harmony. They stressed the importance of resolving all outstanding disputes in South Asia through peaceful means, in line with the U.N. Charter and relevant resolutions.

The discussions also covered the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, with Pakistan briefing the Chinese delegation on recent developments. China reiterated its view that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute is a historical issue that should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.

Additionally, both nations agreed to maintain high-level exchanges and strengthen communication on various issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, to promote the development of their bilateral relations and regional stability.
