Pakistan and China Enhance Economic Corridor Partnership


Beijing, In a significant move to deepen their economic ties, Pakistan and China have agreed to create an upgraded version of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This enhanced cooperation aims to establish specialized development corridors across various sectors.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the agreement was reached during the Fifth Round of the Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue in Beijing, co-chaired by Pakistan’s Ishaq Dar and China’s Wang Yi. The new development corridors will focus on areas including growth, livelihood enhancement, innovation, environmental sustainability, and openness, aligning with Pakistan’s national development goals and priorities.



The dialogue also provided an opportunity for both nations to discuss a broad spectrum of bilateral relations, encompassing strategic, economic, political, defense and security, trade, investment and commerce, cultural, and people-to-people sectors. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to combating terrorism in all forms and manifestations and called on the international community to eliminate double standards in counter-terrorism efforts and enhance cooperation in this field.



Additional discussions highlighted ongoing collaborations in energy, banking, and finance, with an agreement to intensify these efforts. The countries also expressed satisfaction with their growing space cooperation, committing to further collaboration for peaceful and mutually beneficial space exploration.
