Pakistan and China Commit to Strengthening Strategic Partnership


Islamabad: Today, President Asif Ali Zardari and the visiting Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang, reaffirmed their commitment to deepen strategic cooperation in economic, investment, and regional connectivity sectors during a meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions underscored the importance of expediting the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects and exploring new cooperation avenues. President Zardari emphasized the pivotal role of Sino-Pakistani relations in Pakistan’s foreign policy and encouraged Chinese investment in Pakistani infrastructure and the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The meeting also addressed security concerns, with President Zardari assuring enhanced measures to protect Chinese nationals in Pakistan following a recent terrorist attack. Both leaders reiterated support for each other’s core issues, including China’s positions on Taiwan, Tibet, Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and the South China Sea. Premier Li expressed confidence in the enduring strength of the bilateral relationship and anticipated continued mutual support and prosperity.
