Pakistan and China Commit to Deepening Strategic Ties


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and the visiting Commander of the People’s Liberation Army Ground Forces of China, General Li Qiaoming, have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The discussions emphasized enhancing military collaboration, cultural exchanges, and people-to-people contacts in light of global shifts.



According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during their meeting in Islamabad, President Zardari highlighted the longstanding friendship between the two nations, which spans over seventy years, and reiterated Pakistan’s dedication to standing with China amidst evolving global circumstances. He also emphasized the importance of bolstering military and defense ties and fostering cultural linkages to bring the two countries closer. The President advocated for increased Chinese language learning in Pakistan to enhance mutual understanding.



General Li lauded the unbreakable friendship between China and Pakistan, stressing the need for cooperative efforts to combat terrorism. He condemned recent terrorist attacks in Pakistan and expressed condolences on behalf of his government and the people of China.



The meeting underscores a mutual desire to navigate shared challenges and further consolidate the deep-rooted alliance between Pakistan and China.
