Pakistan and China Accelerate CPEC Projects and Commit to Enhanced Cooperation


Beijing, In a significant meeting at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) headquarters in Beijing, Pakistan’s Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal, along with NDRC Vice Chairman, Mr. Zhao Chenxin, discussed the progression and future of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).



According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored a decade of successful collaboration under CPEC, highlighting the transition to its next phase focusing on high-quality development. Both leaders reviewed the progress on key projects like ML-I and KKH realignment, agreeing to expedite procedures for their early implementation to enhance connectivity between the two countries. They also committed to deepening bilateral cooperation in energy, particularly through the early implementation of the Azad Pattan and Kohala Hydel Power Projects.



In addition, discussions included a commitment to further socio-economic development in Balochistan, with particular emphasis on improving infrastructure in Gwadar. Four new memorandums of understanding were signed to conduct technical studies on various road and highway projects, enhancing regional connectivity. The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to prioritize industrial cooperation and the modernization of various sectors, including agriculture and artificial intelligence.
