ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Canada have agreed to maintain regular communication to enhance mutual understanding and foster bilateral economic cooperation. This understanding was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, and the Political and Trade Counselor at the Canadian High Commission, Daniel Arsenault, at a meeting in Islamabad.
The discussions focused on opportunities for enhanced cooperation in clean energy, minerals, and geological surveys. Minister Malik congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on his new role and invited Canadian companies to explore Pakistan’s rich potential in both onshore and offshore sectors.
Minister Malik expressed Pakistan’s interest in leveraging Canadian expertise and investment to propel its economic transformation. He noted Pakistan’s recent progress and bold economic initiatives, emphasizing the country’s eagerness to partner with Canada.
The meeting explored avenues for collaboration in sustainable energy development, acknowledging the potential for joint initiatives in clean energy technologies and minerals. Both parties recognized the importance of increasing trade between the two nations.
The Canadian Counselor highlighted opportunities for cooperation between the Geological Survey of Pakistan and Canadian counterparts under the Technical Assistance Partnership project. He also extended an invitation to Pakistan for the Global Energy Show, an annual event in Canada.
