Pakistan and Canada Strengthen Judicial Ties with New Initiatives


Ottawa, Senior Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, met with Chief Justice Richard Wagner of the Supreme Court of Canada to discuss and initiate judicial collaboration between the two nations. The landmark meeting aimed to enhance mutual understanding, share best practices, and strengthen bilateral relations.



According to Press Information Department, the justices focused on the importance of continuous judicial education and training. They agreed to launch exchange programs for judges and judicial officers to share knowledge and expertise in various fields, including case management, curriculum development, digitalization of courts, and alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.



The meeting also explored the use of technology in the judiciary, discussing potential collaborations between the Federal Judicial Academy of Pakistan and the National Judicial Institute of Canada. Plans include developing and implementing advanced judicial technologies such as electronic filing systems, virtual courtrooms, and AI-driven legal research tools.



Both chief justices emphasized the importance of judicial independence and ethics, planning joint seminars and workshops to promote impartiality and integrity within their systems. The discussions concluded with both parties expressing optimism about the future of judicial cooperation, emphasizing that these meetings could enhance global dialogue on justice and the rule of law.
