Pakistan and Belarus Aim to Enhance Trade and Industrial Ties

Islamabad: Pakistan and Belarus have committed to exploring untapped potential in trade and industrial collaboration, as articulated in a meeting between Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain and Belarusian Minister for Industries Aliaksandr Yafimua.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting, held in Islamabad, focused on strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the industrial and agricultural sectors. The ministers discussed increasing industrial cooperation and identified key export opportunities for Pakistan, including inflatable footballs, bedding items, sports and outdoor equipment, footwear, and rubber, plastic, and metal products.

Aliaksandr Yafimua emphasized the underrepresentation of Pakistani goods in Belarus’s annual import market, which amounts to $17.2 billion. He assured that Pakistani products would be given consideration in the Belarusian market. Both sides reiterated their commitment to enhancing their partnership across multiple sectors.

Rana Tanveer Hussain proposed a pilot project aimed at boosting agricultural productivity in Pakistan and highlighted interest from M/s Millat Group in establishing a joint venture for manufacturing agricultural equipment. Discussions also covered potential Belarusian investments and joint ventures in electric vehicles, as well as collaboration in the small and medium enterprises sector, with ongoing talks between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority of Pakistan and the Belarusian Fund for Financial Support of Entrepreneurs.
