Pakistan and Bangladesh Collaborate to Resume Direct Flights

Islamabad: Pakistan and Bangladesh are actively working towards the early resumption of direct flights between the two countries, aiming to enhance trade, tourism, and medical travel, according to a statement made in the National Assembly.

During the Question Hour, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, announced that Bangladesh has authorized two Pakistani airlines, “Fly Jinnah” and “Air Sial,” to operate flights connecting the two nations.

Dr. Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistan values its relationship with Bangladesh and has initiated several political and economic measures to strengthen bilateral ties. He highlighted recent leadership-level interactions as a testament to these efforts.

The minister also revealed that a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed for the export of 200,000 metric tons of rice to Bangladesh, with 50,000 metric tons already delivered. Additionally, he noted that Bangladesh has simplified business visa processes for Pakistani investors.

In response to another inquiry, Parliamentary Secretary for Communication Gul Asghar Khan provided an update on infrastructure development, stating that the construction of the six-lane Sialkot-Kharian Motorway is in progress and is projected to be completed by 2028.
