Pakistan and Bahrain Discuss Strengthening Trade and Economic Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: A notable meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group took place at the Parliament House in Islamabad, underscoring the commitment of both nations to bolster trade and commercial ties. The gathering featured a delegation from Bahrain, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations.

According to a statement by National Assembly of Pakistan, the meeting was chaired by Ch. Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, the Acting Convener of the Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group. The Pakistani delegation included several Members of the National Assembly, while the Bahraini side was led by Ahmed Abdul Waheid Qarata, Second Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Bahrain, along with other members of the Bahraini Parliament.

The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in sectors such as trade, tourism, information technology, and economic collaboration. Both sides emphasized the importance of regular parliamentary exchanges to facilitate people-to-people contacts and improve trade and economic relationships.

The Pakistani group encouraged Bahraini investors to consider joint ventures in Pakistan, particularly in the agriculture, tourism, and IT sectors. Bahrain’s support for Pakistan’s bid for a seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2025-2026 term was also acknowledged.

The Pakistan-Bahrain Parliamentary Friendship Group expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties and is eager to explore new avenues for collaboration that will benefit both countries.
