Baku: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have taken a significant step towards enhancing their bilateral relationship with a focus on investment and trade, following high-level discussions in Baku. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan met with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister, Ali Asadov, to explore economic collaboration, while announcing a forthcoming $2 billion investment agreement.
According to a statement by Press Information Department, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasized Pakistan’s investment potential, particularly in the privatization of State-Owned Enterprises and infrastructure development. He extended an invitation to Azerbaijan to invest in Pakistan’s motorway infrastructure and other key sectors, promising facilitation from the Pakistani government.
Prime Minister Ali Asadov acknowledged the longstanding brotherhood between the two nations and assured support in bolstering trade and investment. The discussions were part of a series of engagements involving Azerbaijani ministers, focusing on mutual investment in infrastructure, energy, and trade.
Minister Khan also revealed that agreements worth $2 billion will be signed with Azerbaijan, marking a new era of economic cooperation. The visit included meetings with officials from Azerbaijan’s energy sector and discussions on developing trade corridors and communication links.
The upcoming visit of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Central Asian countries is expected to further solidify these strategic ties.
