Islamabad: In a significant diplomatic engagement, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control, Mohsin Naqvi, met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of State for Interior, Aliyev Ismat Rashid, in Istanbul to discuss bilateral cooperation and mutual interests, including advancements in security and economic sectors.
According to Press Information Department, the meeting underscored both nations’ commitment to deepening ties, with particular focus on combating narcotics, human trafficking, and bolstering border management. Minister Aliyev lauded the Pakistan Navy’s recent success in intercepting a major narcotics shipment in the North Arabian Sea, highlighting the operation as a testament to Pakistan’s capabilities and leadership under Minister Naqvi. Further discussions took place against the backdrop of the SAHA Expo in Istanbul, where Minister Aliyev expressed admiration for Pakistani defense products and technologies showcased at the Pakistani Pavilion.
Both ministers exchanged invitations to visit their respective countries, reflecting a mutual interest in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations. Minister Naqvi emphasized the fraternal bond between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, rooted in shared historical and cultural ties, and expressed a strong desire to explore new avenues for cooperation. The presence of Pakistan’s Ambassador to Turkey, Dr. Yusuf Junaid, also highlighted the diplomatic importance of the meeting.
