CANBERRA: The 9th round of Pakistan-Australia Senior Officials’ Talks took place in Canberra, with both nations reviewing bilateral relations and exploring avenues for enhanced cooperation. Leading the discussions were Dr. Syed Ali Asad Gillani, Additional Foreign Secretary for Pakistan, and Ms. Sarah Storey, First Assistant Secretary for Australia.

According to Radio Pakistan, the talks covered a wide spectrum of mutual interests, including political engagement, economic development, and security. The conversations also addressed regional and international developments, with particular focus on coordination at multilateral forums. Dr. Gillani informed the Australian delegation about Pakistan’s initiatives to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East and regional issues in South Asia, highlighting India’s violations of the Indus Waters Treaty.

In parallel, the 10th round of the Australia-Pakistan Joint Trade Committee was held, where Commerce Secretary Jawad Paul Khawaja represented Pakistan. Discussions centered on enhancing trade and investment, particularly in agriculture, IT, and textiles. Both sides exchanged views on market access and global trade dynamics, aiming to reinforce their partnership within the World Trade Organization framework.
