Pakistan and Afghanistan Discuss Peace and Regional Connectivity in High-Level Meeting


Islamabad, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani welcomed a high-ranking Afghan delegation led by Haji Mullah Shirin, Governor of Kandahar and Deputy Head of Military Intelligence and Strategy of Afghanistan, to discuss key mutual concerns including peace, security, and enhancing people-to-people contacts.



According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting focused on reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to continued engagement and fostering mutually beneficial ties with Afghanistan. Foreign Minister Jilani emphasized the importance of addressing all issues of concern to fully exploit the potential for regional trade and connectivity.



Haji Mullah Shirin, in turn, expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s longstanding support to millions of Afghans over the past four decades and agreed to maintain high-level engagement and dialogue to further strengthen bilateral relations. The visit marks a continued effort to enhance cooperation and dialogue between the two neighbouring countries.



Additionally, the Afghan delegation participated in the 6th session of the Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint Coordination Committee (JCC). The JCC meeting served as a platform for discussing coordination mechanisms to facilitate cross-border movement and promote people-to-people contacts, furthering the shared objectives of peace and regional integration.
