Islamabad: Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, convened a high-level meeting with Mr. Bruno Carrasco, Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to deliberate on Pakistan’s climate resilience and environmental strategy.
The parties underscored the need for a comprehensive strategy to address climate change challenges. They agreed to jointly develop a country strategy and climate policy framework to enhance Pakistan’s environmental resilience.
A significant aspect of the talks was the empowerment of youth-led climate initiatives through support in incubation, mentorship, and funding. Both parties acknowledged the potential of these initiatives to contribute to climate solutions and enhance global competitiveness.
The meeting also considered joint ventures in climate financing, aiming to mobilize resources for sustainable development. Minister Malik highlighted the importance of transitioning from planning to implementation, committing to full cooperation with ADB to achieve effective outcomes.
Opportunities in carbon credit markets were discussed, focusing on mechanisms to monetize environmental performance. Collaborative knowledge projects, climate loans, and capacity-building workshops were also proposed to boost institutional effectiveness and public climate awareness.
