Pakistan and ADB Enhance IT and Telecommunication Collaboration


Islamabad: In a significant meeting on Thursday, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Director Ms. Emma Fan met with Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss the advancement of IT and telecom sectors in Pakistan. The dialogue focused on intensifying Pakistan’s cooperation with ADB under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Program, with an eye towards bolstering Pakistan’s digital transformation initiatives.



According to Press Information Department, the discussions, which also included Secretary IT Zarrar Hasham Khan and Special Secretary IT and Telecom Division Azfar Manzoor, explored strategies for propelling Pakistan’s IT exports and supporting the private sector. Minister Khawaja highlighted the government’s commitment to the development of the IT sector as part of the broader vision set forth by the Prime Minister. She emphasized the ongoing digital transformation across governance, economy, and societal sectors in Pakistan, crediting ADB with playing a pivotal role in these efforts.
