Beijing: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has outlined a vision for transforming the Global South into a hub of prosperity and progress through modernization. Speaking at a parallel forum during the Second High-Level Conference of the Forum on Global Action for Shared Development, the minister emphasized the comprehensive nature of modernization, which extends beyond economic and technological development to include social, cultural, political, and environmental aspects.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Minister Iqbal highlighted the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in enhancing regional connectivity and cooperation. He asserted that Pakistan’s commitment to South-South Cooperation is key to bringing the benefits of modernization to its people and to fostering a collaborative environment for shared development among developing nations.
The Minister for Planning also stressed that the collective efforts in promoting these new pathways and visions are essential for achieving holistic transformation and sustainable progress in the Global South.
