Pakistan Aims to Strengthen IT and Telecom Ties with UAE and UK, says Caretaker IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif

Islamabad, Dr. Umar Saif, Caretaker Minister for IT and Telecommunication, has expressed Pakistan’s strong interest in enhancing bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates, particularly in the IT sector. This intention was conveyed during his meeting with the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Al-Zaabi, in Islamabad.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, detailed that in the meeting, Dr. Saif and Ambassador Al-Zaabi discussed various matters of mutual interest, focusing on opportunities and collaborations in the IT and telecom sector. The interaction underscores Pakistan’s commitment to expanding its technological and digital horizons, leveraging partnerships with key international players like the UAE.

Additionally, in another significant meeting with British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Ms. Jane Marriott, Dr. Saif highlighted the long-standing support of the UK government in governance reform in Pakistan, especially in health, education, and public finance sectors. He emphasized the potential of Pakistan’s IT industry to expand its business in the UK market. The Minister also pointed out the need for Pakistani startups to attract larger investments from UK-based ventures, which would be crucial for the growth and international competitiveness of Pakistan’s burgeoning IT sector.

These meetings reflect Pakistan’s strategic efforts to foster international collaborations in the IT and telecom industry, recognizing the sector’s vital role in the country’s economic development and global integration.
