Baku: Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan led the Pakistani delegation at COP 29’s session on Transport and Digital Middle Corridor and Beyond, emphasizing the country’s commitment to converting 30% of its vehicles to electric by 2030.
According to Press Information Department, the forum held in Baku, Azerbaijan, included participation from countries such as Turkey, Georgia, and Italy, along with international organizations like the UN and the European Commission.
Minister Khan highlighted the importance of projects like Green Urban Transport and Renewable Energy to address the challenges posed by increasing urban populations and deteriorating air quality. He noted that initiatives are underway to establish necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles in Pakistan. Additionally, the introduction of a biome thane hybrid bus fleet in Karachi is expected to significantly reduce fuel consumption.
Khan also participated in discussions on Green Technology and digitalization in the transport sector, stressing the importance of such initiatives in decision-making and policy formulation. He expressed gratitude towards Azerbaijan’s Transport Minister Rashid Nabiov and Economy Minister Mikael Jabarov for their contributions to the forum. The Pakistani delegation aims to leverage insights gained from the event to develop a comprehensive future strategy.
