Pakistan Affirms Support for Kashmiri and Palestinian Self-Determination

ISLAMABAD, On the occasion of World Human Rights Day, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani has reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to the principle of self-determination for the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Palestine. This commitment is grounded in the tenets of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration on Human Rights (UDHR).

According to Kashmir Media Service, Foreign Minister Jilani expressed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the people of Illegally occupied Jammu & Kashmir and occupied Palestine. He highlighted the disregard of international human rights and humanitarian laws by the occupying powers, stating that such actions cannot suppress the aspirations for liberty and self-determination of the occupied peoples.

Jilani emphasized that the protection and promotion of human rights are not only constitutional duties for Pakistan but also a guiding principle. He pointed out that Pakistan’s democratic traditions, civil society, media, and legal institutions are pivotal in supporting the rights and freedoms of all citizens.

The Foreign Minister also addressed the rising issues of discrimination, intolerance, and new forms of racism, including Islamophobia and anti-Muslim hatred. He noted that these issues are being exacerbated by the misuse of new technologies to spread disinformation.

Lastly, Jilani reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to providing moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples in their struggle against occupation and in pursuit of their right to self-determination. This support reflects Pakistan’s long-standing position on these critical international issues.
