Pakistan Advocates for Humanitarian Truce in Gaza at UN General Assembly

New York, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Munir Akram, has called for an immediate, durable, and sustainable humanitarian truce leading to the cessation of hostilities in Gaza. Representing a group of countries at the informal plenary meeting of the UN General Assembly, Akram emphasized the need for the continuous provision of essential goods and services to civilians throughout the Gaza Strip.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Akram stressed the urgency of establishing a mechanism for the protection of the Palestinian civilian population, in line with international law and UN resolutions. He firmly condemned attempts at forced displacement and illegal evacuations within Gaza and called for the immediate return of displaced Palestinians to their homeland. He also highlighted the importance of holding accountable those responsible for crimes against the Palestinian people.
