Pakistan Advocates for Humanitarian Corridors in Gaza Amid Crisis

Islamabad, Pakistan has strongly advocated for the swift establishment of humanitarian corridors, emphasizing the need for prompt, safe, and unhindered relief supplies to besieged Gaza. The pressing necessity of these corridors was spotlighted by Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani. Minister Jilani represented Pakistan at the urgent Ministerial Meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Jeddah. This crucial meeting, a joint effort by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, was organized to delve into the Gaza crisis and assess the dire situation facing trapped civilians.

Foreign Minister Jilani fervently appealed for an instantaneous cessation of hostilities, highlighting the urgency to put an end to Israel’s campaign in Gaza. He decried the recent attack on a Gaza hospital and condemned the Israeli blockade, emphasizing the blatant violation of international laws by Israeli forces. Categorically denouncing their actions as potential war crimes and crimes against humanity, he implored the international community to make Israel answerable for its actions. This information was provided by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Underlining the non-implementation of the two-state solution as the primary trigger for the recent skirmishes, Jilani reaffirmed Pakistan’s unyielding support for the Palestinian cause. He emphasized their inalienable right to self-determination and the urgent need to recognize a viable, secure Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

The meeting culminated in the adoption of a Joint Communiqué, encapsulating the unified stance of the Muslim Ummah on the Gaza situation. In the margins of this pivotal gathering, Minister Jilani engaged in discussions with his counterparts from several nations, including Gambia, Iran, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Turkiye.
