Islamabad, At the Third South Summit of the Group of 77 and China in Kampala, Uganda, Pakistan has emphasized the need for increased international collaboration to successfully achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climate objectives.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Additional Foreign Secretary Syed Haider Shah urged developed countries to fulfill their historical commitments and assist the Global South in reaching the SDGs. Shah supported the UN Secretary-General’s call for adequate funding for the recently operationalized Loss and Damage fund, a critical resource in combating climate change effects.
Shah also stressed the importance of the G-77 and China working together to establish a more equitable and just international order. He highlighted the necessity for reform in the international financial architecture to better represent and respond to the needs of developing countries.
His statement underscored the essentiality of unity and solidarity among developing nations to tackle the shared challenges to global peace and development, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to international cooperation in these areas.
