Peshawar, Adviser to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jahan held a meeting on Tuesday with former Pakistan cricket players Rashid Latif and Wajahatullah Wasti to discuss plans for the Pakhtunkhwa Cricket League. The meeting, held in Peshawar, also included Member Provincial Assembly Abdul Muneem Khan, Director General Sports Abdul Nasir, and other department officers.
According to Directorate General Information and PRs – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the meeting explored various proposals for organizing international cricket events in the province. The league would feature international players, promoting cricket at a larger scale in the region. Syed Fakhar Jahan instructed that a comprehensive proposal be developed for the event, which would be reviewed in detail before any final decision is made.
The Sports Adviser expressed his commitment to promoting cricket in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasizing that the construction of Arbab Niaz Stadium must be completed quickly to meet international standards. He reiterated the government’s goal of showcasing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a peaceful and hospitable province, using sports to project a positive image to the rest of the world.
Syed Fakhar Jahan stated that providing sports infrastructure and a better environment for athletes in the province is a top priority. He underscored the importance of promoting positive activities for the younger generation and highlighted the fruitful efforts being made to improve the sports culture in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to expedite the necessary arrangements for hosting international cricket events in the province, with the aim of revitalizing sports and fostering a sense of community among the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
