Pak-US Relations Celebrated, Congressman Al Green Honored with Sitara-i-Khidmat

Islamabad: At an investiture ceremony, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, emphasized the enduring relationship between Pakistan and the United States, which he described as being rooted in shared values, mutual respect, and common ideals.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, during the ceremony, Congressman Alexander N. Green was awarded the Sitara-i-Khidmat for his significant contributions to strengthening Pakistan-US relations and his efforts in combating Islamophobia. Ambassador Sheikh highlighted the collaboration between the two nations across various domains, including peace promotion, economic development, and addressing global challenges, spanning over seven decades.

The ambassador recalled Congressman Green’s visit to Pakistan during the catastrophic floods of 2022, noting his solidarity with the Pakistani people and his subsequent advocacy in the US Congress for timely aid to Pakistan. He also commended Congressman Green’s efforts in combating terrorism in the region and his support for the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009.

Expressing his gratitude, Congressman Green reiterated his commitment to fostering people-to-people relationships and recalled his positive experiences within Pakistani society. He stressed the importance of maintaining close ties between the people of Pakistan and the United States, regardless of potential divisions.
