Karachi: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori and Managing Director of YTH Event Organizer Muzamil Athar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to organize the UAE-Pak Jiu-Jitsu Friendship Cup under the auspices of the United Arab Emirates. The signing ceremony was attended by the Consul General of the UAE, Bakhit Atiq al-Rumithi, along with the Consul Generals of Iran, Qatar, Japan, Bangladesh, Bahrain, and other countries.
According to Sindh Governor House, the agreement facilitates the organization of the Pak-UAE Jiu-Jitsu Friendship Cup and the Inter-School Jiu-Jitsu Championship Olympiad 2025. The collaboration aims to promote sports between Pakistan and the UAE, with a focus on organizing Jiu-Jitsu training in educational institutions and providing specialized training to talented athletes. The Sindh Jiu-Jitsu Association will offer special support, with the Jiu-Jitsu Friendship Cup serving as the Patron-in-Chief.
Addressing the ceremony, Governor Sindh emphasized the promotion of sports alongside cultural and trade relations between Pakistan and the UAE. He noted the UAE’s active role in promoting its sport in Pakistan and highlighted the opportunities for bilateral trade, delegation exchanges, and investments during games held in the UAE. Governor Sindh also mentioned the participation of consuls general, business communities, industrialists, and NGOs from various countries in events held at the Governor’s House, underscoring the investment potential in Pakistan with attractive sectors and a high-performing stock exchange.
During the event, Governor Sindh awarded gold medals to two players for their achievements in a martial arts championship held in the UAE and announced a cash prize of one lakh rupees for each player.
