Pak-China Joint Naval Exercise Sea Guardian-2023 Concludes in Karachi

Karachi, The Pak-China Joint Naval Exercise Sea Guardian-2023 has successfully concluded, as marked by a closing ceremony at the Pakistan Navy Dockyard in Karachi. According to the Directorate General Public Relations (Pakistan Navy), the bilateral exercise involved the Pakistan Navy and the People’s Liberation Army (Navy) of China. The exercise was held at Karachi and the North Arabian Sea.

According to Pakistan Navy, The exercise witnessed the participation of six Chinese Navy units, including a destroyer, frigates, a submarine, an oil tanker, and a rescue ship, along with a detachment of marines. The wide range of operational maneuvers covered during the exercise included Anti-Surface, Anti-Air, Mine Warfare, and Special Operations in a simulated multi-threat environment, aiming to enhance training and interoperability between the two navies.

The main objective of Sea Guardian-2023 was to strengthen maritime cooperation and defense relations, facilitating mutual exchange of maritime experience. The exercise provided an opportunity for both navies to improve their skills and learn from each other’s experiences in various maritime operations.

In conjunction with the exercise, Commander Qingdao Naval Base Rear Admiral Liang Yang visited Pakistan. His visit included attending the closing ceremony and meetings with senior Pakistan Navy officials, including the Commander Coast and the Commander Pakistan Fleet. Discussions during these interactions focused on bilateral naval collaboration and regional maritime security.

Sea Guardian-23 was deemed a success in enhancing the professional skills of the participating navies and serving as a platform for mutual learning. The regular conduct of this bilateral naval exercise underscores the commitment of both countries to strengthen their naval cooperation. The closing ceremony saw attendance from numerous officials from both the Pakistan Navy and the People’s Liberation Army (Navy) of China.
