Srinagar, October 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has said that the Indian government is choking even the breathing space of the people of the territory, leaving them suffer on every front. The PAGD, an amalgam of the regional political parties formed for waging collective struggle for the restoration of the special status of IIOJK, at a meeting in Srinagar, today, expressed concern over the fast deteriorating situation in the territory.
Addressing a press conference after the meeting, the PAGD spokesman Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami said that the alliance leaders discussed the present political scenario in IIOJK and expressed serious concern on the “fast deteriorating situation in Kashmir as well as Jammu.” Tarigami, who was flanked by PAGD chief Farooq Abdullah, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti, Awami National Conference vice president Muzaffar Shah and others said that after taking away the Article 370, Modi government is gradually choking the ways of survival. He said, civil liberties, freedom of press, freedom of speech is under assault while police stations and jails are being filled with innocent people.
The PAGD spokesman said that it was high time that the people and political parties of IIOJK must wake up and raise a collective and united voice against the “present onslaught of New Delhi on people here.” He said that parents are waiting outside every police station to see release of their children. He said Indian jails now have no capacity due to the number of Kashmiris lodged there.
Tarigami described the frequent visits of Indian Ministers to IIOJK as a part of the policy to push the people to the wall further. He said these ministers come to ensure suppression is tightened further and whosoever raises voice is put behind the bars. The PAGD spokesman questioned the open sale of liquor, beer and drugs in the territory. Meanwhile, PAGD chief Farooq Abdullah replying to a query asked the Modi government where the 50,000 jobs it promised are. “Situation is grim as the number of unemployed youth is swelling. I visited Marwah, Dachan in Jammu region and found that a Sub-District hospital has no doctor at all,” he said.
