P.M. Attends 80th U.N.G.A. Opening Session, Meets World Leaders

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif participated in the commencement of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session in New York on Tuesday.

The Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. Arriving late Monday, the premier’s primary objective is attending the UNGA session and a summit of Arab and Islamic nations co-hosted by the U.S. and Qatar.

President Donald Trump will also be present at this special summit, to which the Prime Minister received a specific invitation. Sharif’s schedule includes discussions with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker, Kuwait’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

He is also slated to deliver an address at the Global Development Initiative’s (GDI) high-level meeting, centered on “Recommit to our Original Aspirations, United to Build a Brighter Future of Global Development”.
