Owaisi Criticizes Political Silence on Babri Masjid Demolition Amidst Ram Temple Inauguration Discussions

Lucknow, Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, has expressed his discontent with the ongoing political discussions around the inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22. He criticized the lack of dialogue about the demolition of the Babri Masjid, a topic he believes is being overshadowed in the current narrative.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Owaisi voiced his concerns via a tweet. He lamented the absence of any political discourse regarding the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, calling it an “egregious criminal act” and a significant part of history being ignored. Owaisi’s statement highlighted the focus of political parties on whether to attend the Ram temple inauguration, rather than addressing the historical events of December 6.

In his tweet, Owaisi stated, “No political party is talking about December 6, the egregious criminal act of demolishing a centuries-old Masjid. The whole conversation is now about whether they’ll attend or not. The message to Indian Muslims is clear. We are expected to know our ‘aukaat’ in today’s India. We are expected to acquiesce silently. The dreams of one or two fathers are inconsequential. We became an independent republic because of the dreams and struggles of millions of our ancestors. It’s shameful that a blatant criminal act has been elevated to a moment of national pride. December 6 is a black day for Indian democracy. It is a black day for the values of our freedom movement. It is a black day for the rule of law.”

Further emphasizing the significance of the date, Owaisi called December 6 a “black day for Indian democracy, the values of the freedom movement, and the rule of law.” He expressed his dismay at the demolition of the Babri Masjid being regarded as a moment of national pride, which he views as contrary to the principles of democracy and the country’s historical values.

On January 10, Owaisi also made an appeal to the youth of the Muslim community, urging them to remain vigilant regarding the actions of the BJP-led government. He emphasized the importance of keeping mosques inhabited and expressed his concern for the community’s sentiment toward the loss of the Babri Masjid.
