Washington, March 27, 2023 (PPI-OT): A propaganda campaign in the garb of panel discussion on Kashmir, arranged by some stooges of the BJP government in India, at National Press Club in Washington, this week, was thwarted by some oversees Kashmiris with arguments. The so-called discussion ‘Kashmir: From Turmoil to Transformation’ was in progress when a group of US-based Kashmiris entered the hall, and informed the audience about the true face of the Modi regime in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
During the course of discussion, a question from the audience was posed about the justification for the arrest of Hurriyat leadership at such a mass scale. At this, when one of the panellists, hired by India to paddle propaganda against Kashmir freedom movement and Hurriyat leadership, could hardly utter the words “They (Hurriyat leaders) are in jail because of their mistakes. They are in jail for their hate speech. They are in jail for their war crimes”, he was forced by the American-origin Kashmiris to stop spreading lies on Kashmir. The Kashmiri group proved through arguments that Kashmir freedom movement is genuine and has nothing to do with terrorism while the Hurriyat leadership never talked of communalism.
Instead, they demand the right to self-determination for all segments and ethnic communities of Jammu and Kashmir. The Hurriyat leadership calls for settlement of the Kashmir dispute under the relevant resolutions of the United Nations, the oversees group told the audience as well as the participants. These people, they pointed at the so-called panellists, are paid by the Modi government to malign the Kashmir freedom struggle, which is as per the UN charter, and the fact is that India is usurper of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. This forced the organizers of the so-called discussion including Junaid and Raina, to abuse the Kashmiri group, Kashmir freedom movement as well as Hurriyat leadership, which did not go well with the audience.
