Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has asserted that the presence of over one million Indian troops in the region has severely impacted the lives of Kashmiri people, who are advocating for their United Nations-recognized right to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas stated in a recent announcement in Srinagar that India is employing tactics in Kashmir similar to those used by Israel in Palestine, aiming to displace Kashmiris from their homeland. Minhas emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir remains a disputed territory, with its future to be determined by the people of Kashmir through a plebiscite, as outlined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.
Minhas further highlighted India’s unfulfilled promise to grant the Kashmiri people the right to self-determination at the UN level. He noted that despite sacrifices, Kashmiris remain steadfast in their resolve and will not allow their sacrifices to be undermined. The spokesman condemned the escalating actions by Indian forces against civilians, pointing to increased siege and search operations. He reported that numerous youths have been detained during these operations and taken to interrogation centers.
Despite the challenges, Minhas asserted that the determination of Kashmiris remains unwavering, and they are committed to pursuing their struggle to its rightful end. He underscored that resolving the Kashmir dispute is essential for achieving lasting peace in South Asia.
The APHC has called on the international community to intervene and halt the ongoing actions by Indian troops on unarmed Kashmiris, urging a resolution to the conflict based on UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
