Outrage at Central University of Kashmir as Security Guard Assaults Student

Srinagar: A security guard at the Central University of Kashmir in Ganderbal district has been caught on video aggressively manhandling a student, inciting outrage amidst a protest against recent fee hikes.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the altercation occurred at the university’s Tulmulla campus, where students gathered to voice their displeasure over the increased fees and attempted to meet with the Vice Chancellor. Eyewitnesses report that the security was ordered to block the students’ access to the VC, escalating tensions on campus. During the confrontation, one guard was recorded forcefully pushing a student down from the first floor to the ground floor, resulting in widespread condemnation on social media platforms.

Students and observers alike have criticized the excessive use of force. “The actions of the security guard were reprehensible,” stated a witness, underscoring that the students’ protest was intended to be peaceful and focused solely on contesting the fee increment. The incident has led to amplified calls for accountability, with students and social media users demanding action against the guard and a reassessment of security measures on campus to ensure a safe environment for expression.

This latest incident highlights the ongoing struggles faced by students in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly concerning their ability to protest and express dissent without facing physical retaliation.
